Digital Public Infrastructure: Innovating together towards India-Nepal digital bridges
The "Digital Public Infrastructure" seminar took place on December 12 at the Marriott Hotel, Kathmandu. It was jointly hosted by Nepal Rastra Bank, the Embassy of India, UNDP, and IIDS. This seminar explored the transformative potential of digital public infrastructure (DPI) for fostering resilience, enabling service delivery, inclusion, and driving innovation within the digital economy. Guided by the G20 Framework for Systems of Digital Public Infrastructure, the seminar highlighted DPI's role as secure, interoperable systems that provide equitable access to services at scale. It emphasized promoting development, inclusion, and trust while respecting human rights and freedoms. The event drew from India's best practices and other global and regional experiences with DPI, aiming to provide a detailed overview of the Indian experience, which may be useful to Nepal, with a special emphasis on payment and data layers. The seminar discussed the future of digital cooperation and its impact on development and innovation across the nations, fostering India-Nepal digital bridges.
