The IIDS Annual Policy Conclave 2025, held on Friday, 26 December 2025, successfully convened policymakers, researchers, youth leaders, private-sector representatives, diaspora voices, and development practitioners to deliberate on the theme “Next Nepal: Reimagining Governance, Growth, and Equity in the Post Gen-Z Movement.” Organized at a pivotal moment in Nepal’s political and social transition, the Conclave provided a national platform to reflect on the implications of the Gen-Z civic movement and the urgent need for deeper governance, economic, and institutional reforms.
Across four thematic sessions, discussions focused on reimagining Nepal’s political economy, addressing the remittance paradox and diaspora engagement, strengthening human capital through education and technology, and articulating a forward-looking economic and governance vision for the next generation. Panelists and participants highlighted the importance of accountability, citizen-centric governance, productive economic transformation, and inclusive growth, emphasizing that political change must be accompanied by structural reforms to deliver meaningful outcomes.
The Conclave concluded with a synthesis of key insights aimed at informing a “Next Nepal” reform agenda, reinforcing IIDS’s role as a convening space for evidence-based dialogue and national thought leadership. By bringing together diverse perspectives and grounding discussions in policy realities, the IIDS Policy Conclave 2025 sought to translate civic momentum into actionable ideas for Nepal’s long-term development trajectory.
