IIDS Niti Daudaha Goes Global: Australia
14–24 November 2026 | Sydney • Brisbane • Melbourne • Canberra
Theme: “Role of Nepali Diaspora in the Next Nepal”
The Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) is set to engage with the Nepali diaspora across Australia through “IIDS Niti Daudaha Goes Global: Australia,” taking place from 14 to 24 November 2026 in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Canberra. The initiative aims to strengthen connections between Nepal and its diaspora communities while promoting dialogue on their role in shaping Nepal’s future.
Led by Dr. Biswash Gauchan, FCA, Executive Chair of IIDS, the initiative will bring together diaspora leaders, professionals, academics, entrepreneurs, researchers, and community members to exchange perspectives on Nepal’s development priorities. Discussions will explore opportunities for knowledge sharing, investment, entrepreneurship, innovation, and institutional collaboration, highlighting how the expertise, networks, and resources of the Nepali diaspora can contribute to Nepal’s economic and social development.
As part of the engagements, Dr. Gauchan will present key findings from IIDS’s research report, “Nepali Diaspora in Australia,” based on research conducted during 2025–2026 and officially launched in May 2026. The presentation will provide an evidence-based foundation for discussions on diaspora experiences, contributions, and opportunities for deeper engagement with Nepal.
The proposed engagements are scheduled as follows:
- Sydney: 14–17 November 2026
- Brisbane: 17–19 November 2026
- Melbourne: 19–22 November 2026
- Canberra: 22–24 November 2026
During the Canberra visit, Dr. Gauchan will also participate in the ASARC South Asia Forum 2026 and K.R. Narayanan Oration at the Australian National University (ANU) on 23 November 2026, under the broader theme of Migration and Development in South Asia.
IIDS warmly invites Nepali diaspora members, professionals, academics, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and interested individuals across Australia to participate in these engagements. Through this initiative, IIDS seeks to promote meaningful dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and explore opportunities for the Nepali diaspora to contribute to the vision of the Next Nepal.
