- Partners: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Nepal
- Year: 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal, has entrusted the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) with the formulation of comprehensive country-specific strategies for economic diplomacy. This initiative focuses on ten key countries—India, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Japan, Germany, Belgium, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates. The objective is to develop tailored approaches to enhance Nepal’s economic engagement by leveraging trade, investment, tourism, and other critical economic sectors. This initiative aligns with Nepal’s broader economic and foreign policy objectives, recognizing the need for an evidence-based and strategic approach to international economic relations. By adopting a structured framework, the proposed strategies aim to enhance Nepal’s global economic positioning while ensuring that the benefits of economic diplomacy translate into tangible development outcomes for the nation.
IIDS will adopt a multi-faceted and participatory approach, drawing on its extensive experience in evidence-based research, policy advocacy, and economic development with the facilitation of key expertise from former ambassadors and focus area experts.
