IIDS Policy Conclave 2024 Event Report

The Policy Conclave 2024 offered a platform to discuss “Nepal Vision 2100”, an alternative development blueprint addressing systemic inefficiencies and governance challenges. It emphasized transitioning to a knowledge-based economy through innovations in IT, education, and healthcare, optimizing remittances, repricing land for productivity, and diversifying beyond traditional sectors. Collaboration and innovation were highlighted as essential for sustainable growth.
The conclave called for bold reforms to drive Nepal’s transformation, focusing on global integration, export-driven growth, and improved allocative efficiency. Experts stressed leveraging human capital and diaspora contributions to build a “borderless, weightless” economy. Systemic reforms in governance, infrastructure, and public spending were deemed crucial for equitable and resilient development, positioning Nepal as a dynamic, knowledge-driven economy, transitioning from labor export to service export.
