IIDS White Paper 2026: Nepal’s Economy under the New Normal provides a multidimensional, evidence-based diagnosis of Nepal’s current economic condition at a critical political and economic juncture. It maps structural paradoxes – the WFDD Tetrad of Premature Welfarism, Financialization, Deindustrialization, and Depopulation – and documents compounding risks spanning macroeconomic stagnation, financial fragility, demographic pressures, fiscal imbalances, and geopolitical asymmetries. The White Paper is designed to inform the incoming government’s early reform priorities, particularly within the first 100 days, and to serve as the analytical foundation for a long-horizon Development Strategy.
