The Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) hosted a session titled “Digital Talk: Harnessing the Power of Technology” on 25th August 2025 at its campus, bringing together policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and young professionals to explore Nepal’s digital transformation and its global implications. The program opened with remarks by Mr. Maneet Dhungel, who highlighted Nepal’s IT sector growth, IIDS’s ongoing research, and the importance of leveraging AI and digital trade for economic transformation. Dr. Roshan Thapaliya, CDXO & GM of TDK Japan, delivered the keynote, drawing lessons from TDK’s global success and urging Nepal to harness its unique strengths through responsible AI practices, innovation, and ecosystem-building. Mr. Gaurav Pandey, Vice President of NAS-IT and CEO of E.K. Solutions, followed with insights on Nepal’s IT export potential, the need for policy reforms, improved STEM education, diaspora engagement, and institutional support to realize the sector’s USD 5–6 billion potential in the coming decade. An engaging Q&A session addressed digital supply chains, workforce transformation, data governance, and youth opportunities, stressing the critical role of cybersecurity, compliance, and global linkages. The event concluded with a call to action for coordinated efforts across education, policy, diaspora networks, and innovation, reaffirming IIDS’s commitment to advancing Nepal’s digital future.
