Setting the Agenda for NEXT NEPAL
An Interaction Session with Youth Leaders
Setting the Agenda for NEXT NEPAL is an upcoming edition of Niti Daudaha, a flagship initiative of the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS), designed to foster evidence-based policymaking among emerging leaders and future parliamentarians.
About Niti Daudaha
Niti Daudaha is a policy engagement platform initiated by IIDS to respond to Nepal’s pressing economic challenges while articulating a long-term vision for the country’s development. The initiative focuses on identifying emerging areas of economic potential, supporting the formulation of realistic and data-driven policies, and contributing to the development of periodic plans and budgets at all levels of government.
Through structured dialogue and expert engagement, Niti Daudaha also seeks to encourage increased private sector investment in productive sectors, generate employment, and promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
About IIDS
The Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) is a Kathmandu-based think tank established in 1979. For over four decades, IIDS has been committed to rigorous research, policy advocacy, and convening dialogues that advance sustainable development through a holistic and evidence-driven approach.
Background
In the past, IIDS has organized Niti Daudaha programs in Sudurpaschim Province (May 2025) and Gandaki Province (June 2025) in partnership with the respective Provincial Planning Commissions. Held under the themes “Structural Reform 2.0” and “Nepal Vision 2100,” these engagements brought together members of provincial assemblies, bureaucrats, civil society actors, local government representatives, and other stakeholders to strengthen evidence-based policymaking at the provincial level. These initiatives were aligned with the IIDS Policy Conclaves of 2023 and 2024.
Focus of This Edition
The upcoming edition of Niti Daudaha—Setting the Agenda for NEXT NEPAL—is designed specifically for youth leaders, emerging political actors, and future parliamentarians.
Building on the momentum of the Gen Z movement, Nepal faces an urgent mandate to address core national priorities, including job creation, sustainable economic growth, and the accelerating trend of outmigration. Reflecting this urgency, IIDS organized its Annual Policy Conclave 2025 under the theme “Next Nepal: Reimagining Governance, Growth, and Equity in the Post Gen-Z Movement.”
Sustaining this momentum and in view of the upcoming elections, this edition of Niti Daudaha aims to equip the next generation of policymakers with the insights and perspectives needed to pursue high-impact, realistic, and sustainable change.
